"No one can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending" --unknown
Think about that statement... none of us can "start over." But we can begin again right now, right where we are in our circumstances.
Beauty, wealth, power, big screen TV's, iphone, a new car, vacation time, what we wear, where we shop...are these really the desire's of our heart?
Which one will really bring you peace and make an impact on your life and those around us?
It seems most strive for the things in life that really do not bring peace & joy.
They strive so much so, that they are stressing themselves to death to attain things that have no eternal value.
We live in a time when life is constantly rushed and these "things" demand more and more of our attention. Stress is the common denominator among many and working in the health field, I see it over and over again. Schedule's are jammed packed with so much obligation that there is no time for quiet time. Time alone for yourself, but most of all and more importantly time for yourself alone with God.
As a Christian woman, I want to make more time for Jesus this year. To put Christ first.
I have neglected my "alone time" and I refuse to allow the world to steal this time any longer. I am robbing myself of the best possible life when I compromise on my time alone talking with the Lord. Resting in His love, drawing on His strength, I can make the most of my life. I love the way the psalmist writes, "It is good for me to draw near to God;" Ps. 73:28
This year I am determined to devote more and more precious quiet time with Him.
He desires my undivided attention in spite of the distractions, trials and temptations that surround me.
There was a woman I had a conversation with today who has experienced a very difficult year. I am sure most of you reading this post can relate. Stress had affected her health greatly for the worse and she had to visit the doctor frequently. But she drew close to God, found spiritual strength to rise above her difficult circumstance and even had opportunity to speak with her doctor about how the joy of the Lord was her strength. With a smile on her face, she explained that she has been able to use her painful experience as an opportunity to share Christ with others.
When this life here is over...the most beautiful words we will ever here will be when Jesus says "well done my good and faithful servant." That statement will be for someone who took the time to get to know Him, love Him, and that obediently followed Him.
This coming New Year, may we rise above our circumstances by deciding to draw closer to the Lord.
May we boldly speak more of Him, and stand firmly for Him in the face of a world who seeks to eliminate Him
from our nation, community and family.
Lord help us each day, to fall deeper and deeper in love with You.
Help us Lord to stay focused on the things of heaven and not on the things of this world.
