Each Friday in August there will be a new post entitled
I pray this series of 5 weekly posts will encourage you to share your faith and overcome the often-felt feelings of rejection, embarrassment and anxiety that believers sometimes face when sharing the Message of Jesus with others.
May we realize that we do not lead others to Christ - the Holy Spirit does.
We are just to "share" our faith & live for Christ, loving others to the Lord.
Jesus has commanded us to "Go & Tell."
It's not an option, but a command He says we must obey.
If we do not share, it is sin. The desire is there to share...but we struggle.
"Anyone who knows the good he ought to do and does not do it, sins." (James 4:17)
When we are not active in sharing the fact that only "JESUS SAVES," the sin of silence is a part of our life.
May the Lord stir our hearts to pray and ask for His guidance and wisdom in following His command to share.
When we obey Jesus, we cannot fail! The power of God will work through our life as we see Him change lives for all eternity by our witness. There is no training in sharing Jesus. God works through us, and we see the power of God change lives.
We all have. Often those closest to us cause us to fear sharing. Ridicule and being shunned as a Jesus "nut" by family and friends can hurt. But let us stop and think about what Christ has done for us. The abuse, ridicule, physical pain and shame was laid upon Him. He was scoffed at and shamed as he hung naked on a cross in payment of our sin.
Surely, we have no excuse not to share.
Our first step in sharing is prayer.
Prayer prepares our heart to share - nothing is more important than prayer.
Prayer plugs us into the power of God.
Prayer deepens our relationship with Christ and guides us to opportunities to share.
Prayer for the lost who are dying without Jesus.
"The prayer of the righteous person is powerful and effective." James 5:16
We are all closer to dying with each passing minute.
As a member of the Ladies Gideon Auxiliary, I was studying how to share Jesus effectively when someone in our group shared this story of how one man went into action upon seeing an accident.
A 19 year old driver was going to have to be cut out of a twisted wreckage. As I looked into the circle of emergency workers, God spoke to me. I pushed my way through the crowd, knelt down by him, and realized he could not speak. I asked him to respond if he could hear me and he groaned. I knew I had only seconds before they would take him away.
I said, "If you can say "yes" from your heart to these 5 questions and God will enter your life right now."
Are you a sinner? He groaned to indicate yes.
Do you want forgiveness? He groaned again for yes.
Do you believe Jesus died for you? Again he groaned.
Are you willing to surrender yourself to Jesus? Another groan.
Do you want Jesus to come into your heart and life right now? Yes he groaned.
In critical condition, this young man accepted Jesus. The next day he died.
This man who shared Jesus with this accident victim was prepared. I am sure he was filled with fear and anxiety as he came upon the situation, but he quickly responded to the witnessing opportunity that was before him. Satan wants nothing more than for us to be silent. In a split second he made the decision to move out in faith, and not be silent. Praise God!
Any conversation can be turned into an opportunity to share the Gospel of Christ.
Each Friday during the month of August, I pray to bring you what I have learned about simply sharing Jesus.
Simple questions to ask a non-believer while having a friendly discussion.
As believers in Christ, who have the promise of an eternity in heaven, we are motivated by a genuine desire to guide a lost person from the darkness of this world to the Light and life found only in Christ.
NEXT FRIDAY .... what are the first two questions to ask a non-believer?
