In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thess. 5:18
In all things. Is God asking me to go through another impossible trial? He is asking me to endure this heartache and yet give thanks.
Can I really do this, Lord?
Yes. God loves us so, and tells us in His Word that He WILL care for us if we lean on His everlasting arms.
Hebrews 13:5...and be content with such things as you have; for he has said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Romans 8:31 asks, "what shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
If the will of God is our will, than our response should be to immediately lean on Him and trust Him in all things.
But often we turn to others first, who in some cases may not always be willing to stand strong for us and encourage us spiritually and emotionally.
Friendship can bring us great joy in life, but it also can cause us great pain when others fail us. They are unsure what to say, how to help, have selfish motives, or just do not have the time to spend with us.
It may be that our own family members leave us feeling alone and abandoned, without support or encouragement. Often, it is difficult to find that "spiritually mature" person who will pray with you, encourage you, and stand by you as you both lean on Him for guidance and comfort. But if that person is not in your life right now, you can thank Him because you are driven closer to the Savior, to cling to His love.
