The morning mist greets me every morning. Each new day reflects the handiwork of God and I realize just how blessed we are to be here. Except for the song of the birds, there is silence. Sweet silence.
Being away for several months in Florida, we are back where our heart is, in the mountains.
Strolling through the woods, we taken in the sweet pine-filled air that we hate to exhale.
The quiet, the calm. Is there a desire for you to get away from the crowds?
Each morning I step out onto the back deck and I thank God for the changing mountain views.
Your special place of comfort...
So many dream of a home away from the busyness of the world, tucked away where the sirens and air noise are replaced by geese flying overhead and the wind through the pine trees.
Sure, there are conveniences in the city that we can become addicted to.
ur favorite restaurants and grocery stores are minutes away. But there is something about being "far" away from the hectic crowds that continues to draw us back to the mountains. I think that once you have experienced the visual beauty and the scent of the forest in your nostrils, it is hard to detach yourself from its peaceful lure.
Now that we are back permanently in our mountain place of peace, I have no desire to ever leave again. Whether your "special place" is along the lake, down a dirt road, or high on the mountaintop, the calm that comes with simply being wrapped in nature is addicting.
If you have a dream of moving away from the crowded city,
hold onto it! Plan for it. It is possible.
Downsizing, budgeting and simple living can make your dream come true.
Until the time comes when you too can pack it up and drive off to your special place,
I hope that you too enjoy a colorful Fall - no matter where you call home!
