Imagine nothing but the
sound of the wind blowing
through the pine trees
and the swishing of
Imagine no sounds of man.
No planes, no sirens, no traffic noise.
There is nothing but the sound of nature.
You can actually hear yourself breathe.
This is simply living - not just existing.
This is our piece of heaven on earth. After owning 14 homes in almost 37 years, this is our final home. It is our place of calm and peace. So many dream of downsizing, selling possessions and moving to the mountains far from the maddening crowd. But how many REALLY do it?
I can tell you that more and more people are putting this idea on the top of their life list.
There are no strip malls here, no towering buildings. We like it just the way it is. We do not desire to see our town grow. Our town square has the old brick city hall with pictures of times gone by, but still in the hearts of the locals. Friday nights bring the fiddles to the town square and toes tap and faces light up. Children still run after fireflies and everyone seems to know everyone.
Yes, we like it this way - and pray it stays this way until we leave this world and move on to our heavenly home. Ya'll need to experience it! Life is short, live simply.
There are still quaint general stores that have served the community for 100 years. Places where people came for necessary items and where people came to get necessary updates on locals.
Yes, there is much history and much mystery.
There is a slowing down of the mind and body - time to absorb all blessings that the surroundings offer. Everyone should have an opportunity to spend time in the quietness of the rural life.
